Roads

Paving: In 2002 the voters approved issuance of a 3 million dollar bond to improve and pave Foxfield’s roads. The paving was completed in 2003.The bonds are financed by a mill levy on real estate that is set annually.  The mill levy established for 2012 is 18.256.

The bonds are for 15 years and can be called after 10 years. The outstanding balance remaining on the Road Bonds is $ 1,805,000. The Board has set up an account to reserve funds for paying off the Road Paving Bonds after 10 years.  Funds are added to this account from the 'general ledger' each year as available.

The Board has set up an account to reserve funds for re-surfacing the Towns 10 miles of roadway so that funds will be available when needed. Annually the Specific Ownership tax collected from the General Obligation bond fund are reserved for this purpose.

Permits:  In order to protect our roads, a Public ROW Use Permit is required before road cuts and borings are made; for example, gas connections, telephone lines, cable, etc. A permit is also required prior to installing a culvert or driveway. Contact the Town Clerk for information regarding permits. After paving was complete the Town established programs to maintain street rights-of-way, control weed problems and prevent drainage problems.

Snow Removal:  The Town contracts with a local landscaper for snow plowing. In general, roads are plowed when snowfall is 4” or greater.
