Trash Pick-Up

The Town of Foxfield has assigned Waste Management as the designated trash hauler to provide weekly curbside trash collection service and bi-monthly recycling service to each residential unit within the town.   Foxfield uses Waste Management as the sole provider of residential trash services in Foxfield. Use of other trash collection companies is prohibited, but residents also have the option of hauling their own trash. Limiting trash collection to a single provider reduces the damage done to our roads by the heavy vehicles and has reduced the cost for most property owners.

You must call the Waste Management customer service center number at 303-797-1600 to setup your account with the pricing available for Foxfield residents.   Waste Management also offers complimentary “carry-out” service for those homes with “verifiable” limited physical capabilities. Please call the WM service center to arrange for “carry out” service and be prepared to provide documented evidence of your handicap.

Trash & Recycling Policies

Time & Place:  To ensure prompt pick-up for all of our residential customers, please have your trash and recyclables out on Thursday mornings by 7:00AM.  Please use trash bags that are securely tied shut prior to placing trash in your container. Properly bagged trash will reduce spillage and disbursement resulting from high winds. Customers are requested to place trash at the curb, outside fences or gates. It is highly suggested that you mark your street address on your trash container prior to placing it at the curb.

Recycling occurs bimonthly on the same day as trash day.  There is no additional charge for recycling; however, homeowners who wish to recycle should have an active recycle account with Waste Management. To activate a recycle account in your name, please call Waste Management at 303-797-1600. Provide your name and address and state that you reside in Foxfield. Waste Management charges a one-time $20 fee for the delivery of two recycle bins to your home. Once received, the bins become the property of the homeowner.  Homeowners may use other recycle bins of their choice; however, those containers MUST have Waste Management stickers placed on them so that the recycle driver can recognize them as recycle bins.  Stickers may be obtained from Waste Management.

Holiday Service:  WM observes six holidays each year: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.  If one of these holidays falls on or before your regular day of collection, the pick-up will occur one day later for the remainder of the holiday week. For example, since Memorial Day falls on Monday, Thursday customers would shift to a Friday pickup for that week.

Other Materials: 

·         Flatten cardboard boxes prior to placing at curb for disposal. Cardboard boxes should not be used for trash disposal as they are very difficult to compact in the truck. 

·         Please cut branches in four-foot lengths or less, and tie them in bundles that can easily be carried by one person for disposal. Please limit yard bundles to four per week. If Christmas trees are longer than four feet, please cut in half before placing at curb for disposal.

·         Leaves and grass clipping should be enclosed in trash bags and placed with other items for outside collection. Limit of 10 bags of yard waste per week.

·         Please do not place any liquid wastes (oil, paint, etc) or batteries in your residential trash. To dispose of these items, contact your city or county government to obtain information for annual household hazardous waste drop-off dates.

Special Services: Special services are available for large items, construction debris, excess yard wastes, professional landscaping, and remodeling wastes. Please contact the Waste Management office at 303-797-1600 to obtain information and pricing for scheduling a special waste pick-up.

Items Acceptable for Recycling:

   Recycle items can be commingled into a single container for removal

• Aluminum and Steel:  Aluminum cans, pie tines, aluminum foil, steel/tin cans, empty aerosol cans Containers should be rinsed and free of debris
• Glass:  Food and beverage grade glass only.  Lids should be removed and containers rinsed
• Paper:  Magazines, office paper, paperboard, newspapers, junk mail, cardboard, phone books, brown paper bags.   Shredded paper should be placed into a brown paper bag, stapled closed and placed into the recycle container.  Cardboard boxes should be flattened and paperboard should be cut into 2' x 2' squares, then placed along side of, or under the recycle bin
• Plastic:  Plastic bottles with "bottleneck" openings, such as milk, pop, detergent, or shampoo bottles.   Only plastics with either a number 1 or number 2 in the triangle recycling designation are acceptable for recycling.

 **Items Waste Management Cannot Accept for recycling:   Ceramics, light bulbs, plate glass.   Containers that have held hazardous materials like motor oil, plastic bags, wide-mouth plastics such as butter tubs or yogurt containers or food-contaminated items or household garbage.
